Sequestration Does Not Impact White House Mega-Party

Would you like to take a tour of the White House?  It's easy.  All you have to do is write to your Congressman and ask for tickets.  Oh, wait.  They cancelled White House tours in the name of sequestration.  Then Obama flip-flopped, but only special groups can get a tour.  And most likely you're not special.  Flip-flopping - it's Obama's favorite trick.  Let's evaluate this.

The White House tours our conducted by......volunteers.  So you're not saving any money by getting rid of them.  Officially the White House claims that the cancelled tours are due to the security guards being reassigned to other posts.  Yadda-yadda-yadda.

Meanwhile, the King of Hypocricy, Lord Obama, who announced that he paid only 18% in taxes this year, has thrown a high-dollar Hollywood-style music concert in the White House complete with some of the biggest names in Memphis soul music.  Of course this is done at tax-payers expense.  If I'm not mistaken, they used some of the money saved from furloughing thousands of government employees to pay for the concert.  "Hey, look at all of this money we're saving by not paying federal employees.  Let's have a concert and only invite celebrity guests!"  Sounds like a great idea to me.

It is unclear how much the concert cost.  But you figure that they had to bring in all of the set-up including chairs, tables, lights, food, drinks, speakers, cocaine, stage, flooring, ambiance, strippers, security, organization, planning, etc...  Entertainers included Sam Moore of Sam and Dave, Justin Timberlake (because of his legendary contributions to Memphis soul music), Alabama Shakes, Ben Harper, Cyndi Lauper (because of her legendary contributions to Memphis soul music), Mavis Staples, Charlie Mussellwhite, William Bell, and Queen Latifah (because of her legendary contributions to Memphis soul music).

The concert was praised by Rolling Stones magazine and The Huffington Report, both of which are quick to criticize Republicans and just as quick to turn a blind eye on the Democrats.

And since Chris Van Hollen is now my Congressman, I did a quick Google search to count how many articles were written about him criticizing this wasteful spending.  I counted zero articles.  My conclusion?  Chris Van Hollen endorses wasteful spending by the White House.

Why do I feel that we, the tax payers, are constantly losing the battle of fairness?  It no longer appears to be a government by the people, for the people.  It's more and more becoming a government of the elite, against the people.
