O'Malley Sets Passenger Record at BWI

On Thursday of last week, a report was released that indicated that Baltimore Washington Thurgood Marshall International Airport set a new passenger record for 2007. Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley promptly took credit and claimed it was an accomplishment of his administration's hard work.

"The continued growth at BWI Marshall reflects our overriding commitment to customer service." I actually think this is a notable event. Given that O'Malley has already claimed that he is committed to lowering taxes, lower energy costs, and improving education, one must say that accomplishing 1 out of 4 of his commitments is actually not too bad.

On a similar note, there is some controversy over who can claim the increased passenger rate for Washington Reagan National Airport in Arlington. Is it Virginia Governor Kaine? D.C. mayor Fenty? Or was it really Nancy Reagan? The controversy may never end. At least in Maryland we have a clear-cut champion.
